Dreamer

Tonight was Date Night with my wife. After a meal at home with the kiddies we went to see a horse movie. A horse-and-a-girl movie. I took a girl to see a horse-and-a-girl movie. Have I mentioned that my wife used to ride horses? She was an equestrian jumper in California many a moon ago, but I'm told you never get it out of your blood. She was quite good, won a bunch of competitions and made a blind purchase on an amazing horse. Yeah, this movie was right up her alley.

"Did you like it?"

"Yeah... it was okay."

"You didn't like it?!" The consternation growing in her voice.

"Look, I don't ask you if you liked Die Hard the same way I did, so don't be upset if I'm not as excited about the horse movie as you are. It was good, but Die Hard is my type of flick."

As far as horse movies go, it was pretty good. The actors were good and the storyline moved along pretty well. There were a couple slow-going points but all in all it was a pretty good movie.

The other night Amy and I were talking about getting her back into the equestrian world, even if it was just to be around horses rather than being a jumper or a barrell-racer. She loves it. It's one thing that makes her very happy. And when she's happy, I'm ecstatic.

Then today a friend invited her to come along to a horse farm and hang out--talk about an answer to prayer. That's exactly what she wanted to do! She can be around the horses, muck the stalls (I'm still at a loss as to why it has to be called "mucking"... it just doesn't sound too clean... and it reminds me of the "muckrakers" from the clash of America's agricultural and industrial age), wash them, brush them, ride them, feed them... all the things that go with horses. And she's EXCITED! She can't wait! She's dreamed about this day for too many years.

And I just hope all her dreams come true.
